Goodbye, Painting a Day, and thanks for now.

I'm currently feeling like I did not and do not enjoy doing the 5x7 paintings a day. I learned quickly that I enjoy painting for the meditative process and to have something to obsess over. I value spending time with my work. Attempting to quickly churn out a painting a day that I really had no attachment to was getting under my skin. Maybe one day I will attempt again, but for now I miss my portraits and larger scale works. Skill and style take time to develop and I have gained a greater appreciation for my own during this short stint.

#006 Painting a Day. Week's theme is coffee.

#006 Stovetop espresso pot. I'm sort of ok with this. I found this image online and now wish I had taken one of my own. The pic I chose didn't have a lot of reflection and contrast in it and the outcome is pretty flat. So much for taking shortcuts when you are tired. Sheeshers.

The phrase, "I never promised you a rose garden," keeps popping into my head as I paint. I think my paintings are sending me messages. I'm coming to realize just how much goes on in my head when I paint. Lots of distractions. And it makes me question my end product. But that's what this is all about...sticking with it, trying to focus, and accomplishing a goal...tiny...bits...at...a...time.
